An Egyptian media startup founded in August 2020, built on the belief that local voices from the Global South deserve a platform on the world stage. Operating as a virtual newsroom, Egab connects journalists from across the Middle East and Africa with regional and international media outlets, specialising in solutions journalism, a genre focused on how communities respond to their challenges rather than just the problems themselves. The platform provides young journalists with editorial support, skill-building opportunities, fair pay, and bylines in reputable publications. A recipient of the Google News Initiative’s MENA Innovation Challenge grant in 2021, Egab has raised $100K from backers including Media Development Investment Fund, Sanabil 500, and the Founder Institute.
